Directives are instructions that act on the ParserMonster environment, excluding current data and source file names.

ParserMonster recognizes two forms for directives:

arguments may be one or more text strings, separated by commas. Text strings may include equal signs.

• <notes> Begins a block of descriptive text
• </notes> Ends a block of descriptive text
• <cert> … [directivecert|</cert>]] Encloses a version number indicating compatibility
